Underfloor Heating Screed
The depth of screed over underfloor heating pipework has more effect on how well the system runs than most people assume. Too thin and efficiency drops, too thick and the whole thing takes considerably longer to heat and dry. We work to 50 to 55mm of liquid screed over the pipework as standard, rising to a minimum of 65mm for a hand mixed screed, always over a properly insulated slab to stop heat loss.
Self-Levelling Compound
Not every uneven floor in an older property needs a full screed. Self levelling compound can sort it out in a fraction of the depth, sometimes as little as an eighth of an inch, which suits cottage and farmhouse renovations well since it disturbs the existing floor structure far less than a full screed would. It sets quickly, so it needs a team who know what they are doing before that happens.
